I have spent a lot of time on my photography recently but most of it has been food shots for various things; Dorchester Life, the new Dorset food magazine Menu and, of course, for the blog, so I thought it was time to upload a few new images to the galleries.
We did get out along the coast one evening a few weeks ago and caught a beautiful sunset heading from Hardy’s monument down to Abbotsbury and along to Hive Beach. The light looking from the monument down across the Fleet was soft and full of warm pastel shades which slightly belies how cold it was!

An earlier trip to Portland gave me a couple of good shots, but I will have to go back again to find the wild goats I wanted to try and photograph. Check this gallery for more images.
On the food front I have been shooting all sorts, from forced rhubarb, which is so stunning at the moment, to Seville oranges for the marmalade blog the other week. For a lot of the shots I have used a Nikon 105mm macro lens which I have found superb for food photography. David Williams (see the guest blog list) introduced me to the lens last year and I was immediately hooked!

I love the textures you see in food, from the ridges on a vanilla pod to crinkled cabbage leaves or the woody stem of a pumpkin and this lens really works for those shots. Check this gallery for more images.
